Izdubar

This is a video piece  entitled Izdubar I made in 2009 which used a four channel video of US Apache gun ship video on a loop with a traditional Iraqi song as the background. 


Spiritual implications and contrasts of ancient gods and battles over the skies of Iraq (Mesopotamia). 

The naming of the piece Izdubar, comes from the mistranslation of cuneiform in the late 19th century for the Babylonian demi god Gilgamesh.Used by the British, in trying to understand the cultural legacy of Mesopotamia.
